Mary Ainsworth, a student of Bowlby, is a pioneer of attachment theory. This book describes her seminal experiment called "The Strange Situation," which tested how infants responded to reunion episodes with their mothers. Using this experimental setup, Ainsworth and her coworkers were able to identify securely attached babies and two types of insecurely attached babies. Long-term follow-up studies by other researchers have confirmed these findings and shown that there are long-term serious consequences for those infants who suffer attachment pathology in the early months of their life. Mark Mangan is a Singapore-based partner in the international law firm, Dechert LLP. Mark represents clients in complex cross-border disputes, often involving a government or political dimension, in various sectors, including oil and gas, mining, finance, and telecommunications. He has acted as counsel in over 25 commercial, investment treaty and sports arbitrations, and been appointed as arbitrator under the rules of various institutions (SIAC, ICC, LCIA and SCC) and as an ad hoc arbitrator under the Singapore International Arbitration Act. Mark is recommended in the Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2015 for his work in international arbitration in Singapore. In addition to writing A Guide to the SIAC Arbitration Rules, Mark's academic contributions include numerous published articles and book chapters on investment treaty arbitration, international commercial arbitration and sports arbitration. He presents regularly at seminars and conferences on those subjects. Mark is admitted to practice law in Australia, England and Wales, and is a fellow of the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration, a member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and the ICC task-force on the Role of Parties and their In-house Counsel in arbitration, and is an Advisory Board Member of the Institute for Transnational Arbitration.

Lucy Reed heads Freshfields' global international arbitration group, which is ranked at the top of the GAR 100, Chambers, Legal 500 and the AmLaw Scorecard. Lucy advises private and public clients on high-value commercial and investment treaty arbitrations, and sits selectively as arbitrator. Among her many publications, Lucy is co-author of the 1st and 2nd editions of the Guide to ICSID Arbitration, as well as the 2nd and 3rd editions of the Freshfields Guide to Arbitration Clauses in International Contracts (both published by Wolters Kluwer). Currently directing the Freshfields' international arbitration practice in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Tokyo, she has substantial experience in Asia, including as general counsel of the Korean Peninsula Energy Development Organization, and in Asian-related arbitrations. Lucy is on the SIAC panel of arbitrators and serves on the LCIA Court and the new ICC Governing Body. She is Honorary Vice President of the American Society of International Law.

John Choong is a Partner in Freshfields' international arbitration group, and has had many years of experience dealing with disputes and arbitrations covering much of Asia (including Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam, Brunei, India, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, and China). He has practiced arbitration in both Singapore and Hong Kong, and has been involved in many Singapore arbitrations, including those under the SIAC Rules and the SIAC Domestic Arbitration Rules. John is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators, and has been listed as a leading individual for dispute resolution in Chambers Global. He is admitted in Singapore, Hong Kong and England and Wales, and is a Singapore country rapporteur for the ICC Task Force on the New York Convention. He has published with OUP, Kluwer, Juris, Sweet & Maxwell, and others.

The perfect cookbook for folks who live alone.

I love to cook and I love new cookbooks. I read a review of this one in our local newspaper about a month ago and I knew I had to have it. From breakfast to desserts, I have found many recipes I want to try.

The book has multiple features that I like. Chief ones are that the recipes call for ingredients normally stocked by cooks who enjoy preparing meals; they can be whipped up in a hurry and microwaved in minutes; and they taste good.
Many of them are prepared and baked in a 16-oz mug. That’s the size of my two-cup Pyrex measuring cup.

To date I have made Quinoa Chile, Crumb Coffeecake, Kale and Barley Soup, Tomato- Couscous- Chickpea Soup, Salmon Chowder, Antipasto Pasta, and Bread Pudding and I’ve had this book less than a month.

I’ve enjoyed each of these dishes. I am recently widowed and this book is helping me to continue to eat wholesome food because it is so easy to “stir it up.”

Great book

My wife and I have already used this book more than any cookbook we have bought in the recent years (and we buy a lot). Recipes are all pantry friendly, especially great for lunches and breakfasts. So much cheaper and healthier and interesting than canned soups, frozen dinners and the like. We bought one each for our single son and daughter in college. They are both using and enjoying their copies a lot, too.

The ingredients are things I have, I don't have to get special foods or spices, I like that it makes one serving and I don't have left overs.

Wonderful book, wrong price

I was looking for this book to make a present for my brother in law but I changed idea as I saw the price.
I bought it for myself some months ago in an Italian PX in Afghanistan, I paid it 50 Euros ! There must be something wrong...

Mike Medaglia is a cartoonist, illustrator and comics editor. He is the co-editor of dotComics, a comics anthology linking webcomics and print, and contributes to The Comix Reader. A Zen Buddhist practitioner, he draws a monthly meditation comic for The Huffington Post and edited the spiritual comics anthology Wu Wei. One Year Wiser, a book of 365 illustrated meditations, will be published by SelfMadeHero in September 2015. He lives in London. He blogs at oneyearwiser.com.

A quick informative book for new DJs

I bought this book to get a basic understanding of how to DJ and that's exactly what I got.

There really is no stone unturned with this book and it exposes the reader to many different DJing concepts. It is very quick to read cover to cover which is exactly what I was looking for. A no frills guide to DJing, plain and simple.

A few sections of the book may seem to state the obvious if you have any sort of background in audio or music but it is nice to have everything in one place rather than aimlessly googling bits and pieces of info on the web. This book confirmed a lot of my suspicions about DJing and was well worth the money.

Great primer on the art/business of DJ'ing

This book delivered in ways I wasn't expecting. I purchased this for the more technical portions of the book, and while still relevant, the content is very dated (published in 2002) in regards to digital formats, and promoting one's self on the internet.

The portions of book dedicated to DJ technique were strong, but I felt like alot of the information contained there was vague. How exactly do you write about combining music in a way that empowers it? It all comes down to personal taste. And experience, developing an ear for what sounds right. Pictures of different scratch techniques won't mean much without knowing the sounds you're going for. And pictures of beat matching won't make any sense unless you've sequenced beats before. I've done all these things before so it worked out for me.

The real value in this book was about the DJ culture. Where to find gigs, how to know your audience, how to read a room. The differences between warming up a crowd and playing peak hours. These chapters were real gems, indispensible wisdom for people like myself without friends in the business. I felt like it was worth the price of admission for just these chapters.

The only thing I would ask for would be more chapters dedicated to different musical styles, and mixing them. It felt like a gaping hole in the book.
