Bresnan does an amazing job at explaining the eastern religions and philosophies. I had to get this book for my class but I'm kind of glad I purchased it because I can see myself referencing back to it often.

I bought this book for an Asian Humanities class. This is a textbook, and the price is horrendous even for a used copy, which is truly a shame because the price alone makes this wonderful book so very inaccessible to the average reader. Patrick S. Bresnan is a talented writer as he beautifully introduces stories and concepts behind Hinduism and Asian Buddhist traditions. His prose style is interesting and very understandable, with a subtle touch of humor where warranted, and he makes complex ideas very easy to understand and absorb. From start to finish this is a thoughtful, enjoyable and enlightening read. I had intended to sell back this book at the end of the semester, but I love it so much I now plan to keep it for myself. I wish it were more affordable so readers interested in the subject would be more likely to buy it. An earlier edition exists for slightly less money, but I don't know how it might be different from this edition, it has fewer pages. This book is highly recommended and this is one of those books that everyone should read.

Great resource for Eastern Religion and Pholosophy!

This book was used as a textbook for the online course of Eastern Religion and Philosophy. It made the course enjoyable, and is one of the few textbooks that can stand alone as an excellent study of Eastern Religions, their histories, and the various philosophies. Well written and easy to read, it is deep in details and a great 'one resource guide' to have around. In fact, I have it as a kindle book for reference that's always with me. Two points on the Kindle version; first, it uses the standard page numbers as the printed version, and second, because the text is not realizable, it is only readable on an iPad or larger device. No iPhone capacity.

Waste of Time: Don't bother with this dog of a book

This book is self-published through CreateSpace, wherein, a separate company owned by Amazon provides the tools to help people self-publish and distribute their books.

I found the contents of this book to be incredibly poor and not in keeping with the glowing recommendations that are offered; the reviews make this book seem great but, as soon as I opened it, I could tell that it was self-published. It feels like it was written by a content farm. A deeper review of the book reviews leads me to believe that the reviewers have been falsified in some way-- I was so disappointed with the quality of the book's contents that I filed a return claim within five minutes of holding it in my hands.

In sum, if you need quality and up-to-date information on container homes, there are better ways to spend $10-- don't waste your time on this book and in the end, make the same mistake that I made.

Impressive read and impressive idea. I never heard of shipping container homes. After reading this book i was so amazed by what creativity can do to us. Shipping Container Homes are very cheap to build. A lot of them are so pretty as well. its also earthquake and hurricane proof. This is truly a book that saves people hundred thousands. Five stars!

Left with Lots of Questions

So the first thing I'd like to say is that I really did enjoy this book, it made me laugh and smile and I really felt for Emma and the results of all her crazy actions. But I'm left with a lot of questions after reading it too.

If the most popular witch in school is targeting Emma and really wants Eli it stands to reason that Eli is one of the most popular and attractive guys at school right? If Emma's the best friend of one of the hottest and popular guys at school how is it that nobody really notices her, she's never dated anyone and she's the invisible girl? If they life next door to each other and he drives to and from school and they're best friends why exactly does she normally ride the bus? Despite enjoying the story there's a lot of questions like that for me, things that don't quite make sense. Like if Emma is really this amazingly beautiful girl, why does nobody notice that before the beginning of the story when she's a junior in high school? There's no big makeover scene to draw attention to her appearance. Other than a fake Facebook profile she doesn't change at all but suddenly guys are noticing her and interested in her?

Eli's feeling toward Emma start to change even before the Facebook request, but he doesn't pursue them so what changes his mind? Why does he notice her now when he didn't before? Then there's Jake who you couldn't help feel sorry for. She kind of uses him to get Eli's attention and he knows it and willingly agrees, but then he starts to like her and she seems to like him back and constantly gives this horrid mixed signals. Like yeah I'm ready to move on with you, but nope Eli looked my way so will you wait for me to find out if he's interested so I can decide if I'm interested in you?

So yeah I can't say I agree with everything about the plot and I have say the most of the secondary characters were a little weakly built, they sort of felt like they were there to fill a stereotypical role from teen fiction or movies which isn't really good enough for me. I like it when all the characters resonate with a reader, not just the main ones. That wasn't really the case. The only characters that have any sense of realness are Emma and Eli who are great characters but while I enjoyed the story they're not enough for me to give the book a higher rating than I have.

Despite having it's issues I would recommend the book for someone that wants a sweet, funny high school romance.

I really loved this book! I can understand why Emma did what she did to get Eli to notice her, although obviously it wasn't too smart and would backfire. I didn't know WHICH guy I wanted her to end up with at first, but I LOVED the ending. Too cute! If you are looking for a funny summer read, you will probably like this one. I recommend it! =)
