Awesome Upgrade

This is not "the same old OMS Secrets". In the two previous versions, the answers to the questions were much more geared towards surgical rounds and would give 1 line answers, just as if you were on rounds. This book can be used as supplement for board preparation because the answers are complete paragraphs with elaboration and explanations. I am enjoying reading this version of Secrets and find that it is much more complete that the previous two versions. Nice job, Dr Abubaker et al.

My children love this book!

The pictures in this book are amazing and my children love this book. They have never once been scared by it. My 2 year old asks for this to be read 3-4 times daily. My children understand that the little girl in the book is imagining real characters instead of the trick-or-treaters coming to her door (which in the end it makes it quite clear that they are just children dressed up). This book is a hit and my children love the illustrations. They are not scared of owls, "real live dead people", ghosts, dinosaurs, or any other characters in the book. If you take your children trick-or-treating they see far scarier halloween cotumes and decorations in person. If you don't like Halloween, then don't buy this book.

Who Will Haunt My House On Halloween?

It is nearly Halloween, and I just got this book for my kids, ages 6 and 3. Both of them are really enjoying it and I've had repeated requests to please read it at bedtime. Neither have found it the least bit scary. In fact, one of the fun parts of the book has been finding the little mouse on every (or nearly every) page. Also, if you look closely, there is a hidden image of a Halloween cat with an arched back on every (or almost every) page. On the cover you can see it in the window of the house. The kids have enjoyed the hunt just as much as the story!

The style of this book surpasses anything that Mr. Bradshaw has written. In other words, although his other books are nice, his writing style is not fluent. He must have had help perhaps, but this one flows fluently. The quality of the material is earth shattering. Very few books have I read from cover to cover within a week and this one I did. This is something I can go over and over.

Creating the love you want

I have not read all of this but what I have read is very helpful about understanding dynamics of why we continue to live our lives in the past, though we may not know it. He is coming from a place of exposing the shame element and people who come from or understand the 12 step programs will recognize his way of demystifying pain and shame. He is a gentle caring soul who really wants us to understand and reveal ourselves TO ourselves and then be able to move on.

John Bradshaw's literature has been a real help to me. I enjoy his theories and his style of writing. He doesn't overload you with concepts, but really breaks things down and keeps them simple. I recommend this book to anyone, no matter your situation...it will help.

No nonsense retirement advice written in a clear, understandable manner. In less than 10 minutes, I was able to comprehend how social security works better than I have been able to from all the other reading I have done on the subject in 30 years. Ditto other seemingly complex retirement issues. Well done!

Pensionless is a quick read full of useful advice that can be implemented immediately. This book had a lot of good advice for people like me who will not have a pension to rely on. It is sprinkled with real world examples from people who have followed some of these advice. Although I've heard of some of these suggestions before (such as reverse mortgages), there are some very thought-provoking advice that I've not considered before. Highly recommend it for people who are thinking about how they can possibly save enough for retirement!

I'm 61, concerned about the how's, when's, and myriad details of retirement planning. Having modest savings, I know I need to get with the program in step stages-- now. This book was a terrific resource, covering all the key areas to concentrate on- laid out in straightforward fashion. I appreciated the coverage of psychological aspects as well, not just the how-to parts. Thanks to the author!

Aside from the fact that this book has a number of great images, the cause that it suppports is quite worthwhile. I would encourage everyone to purchase this book to support AIDS research. Besides, where else can you can find so many incredibley sexy women wearing nothing but sexy shoes and expensive jewelry?

In a work of critically engaged political theory, Glen Sean Coulthard challenges recognition as a method of organizing difference and identity in liberal politics, questioning the assumption that contemporary difference and past histories of destructive colonialism between the state and Indigenous peoples can be reconciled through a process of acknowledgment. Beyond this, Coulthard examines an alternative politics—one that seeks to revalue, reconstruct, and redeploy Indigenous cultural practices based on self-recognition rather than on seeking appreciation from the very agents of colonialism.

Coulthard demonstrates how a “place-based” modification of Karl Marx’s theory of “primitive accumulation” throws light on Indigenous–state relations in settler-colonial contexts and how Frantz Fanon’s critique of colonial recognition shows that this relationship reproduces itself over time. This framework strengthens his exploration of the ways that the politics of recognition has come to serve the interests of settler-colonial power.

In addressing the core tenets of Indigenous resistance movements, like Red Power and Idle No More, Coulthard offers fresh insights into the politics of active decolonization.
